Our passion and purpose at Delta Dental of Idaho is to improve the oral health of Idahoans. We fulfill this mission in part through our grant programs.
Oral Health Grant Program
The objectives of the Delta Dental of Idaho oral health grant program are to:
- Improve the dental infrastructure and workforce capacity in Idaho.
- Improve access to affordable, timely, and high-quality dental health care.
- Reduce oral disease through education, prevention, and treatment.
Grants can be awarded for:
- Capacity building
- Capital and equipment
- Programs and special projects
Preference is given to proposals focused on increasing access to care in rural Idaho, dental health profession shortage areas, and/or improving oral health among underserved populations.
Minimum and maximum grant amounts are dependent on the grant cycle and will be announced prior to the application opening. Previous maximums have ranged between $25,000-$100,000 and the largest award to date has been $75,000.
Once a grant cycle is announced, detailed funding guidelines, evaluation criteria, and the application can be viewed on our online platform.

Tooth decay is the most common childhood chronic disease and sugar-sweetened beverages are a major contributor, so Delta Dental of Idaho wants students and staff to rethink their drink and opt for water.
Idaho schools K-12 can apply to receive a Delta Dental of Idaho-branded Elkay® water bottle filling station to update or replace an outdated drinking water fountain. Each school awarded will also receive water bottles and dental care kits for all students and staff, and an educational toolkit.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for this opportunity, applying schools must:
- Have a water fountain available to be converted or replaced with a bottle filling station.
- Have more regular water fountains than bottle filling stations (priority will be given to schools with one (1) or fewer water bottle filling stations currently installed).
- Serve individuals in the state of Idaho.
Priority will be given to schools with 50% or more Free and Reduced-Price Lunch (FRPL) status.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Each school must create an account and apply through our online platform. Districts applying for multiple schools must create an account for each school. The application period is followed by an approximately 45-day review period, after which schools will be notified of a decision.
